COR-LOK® air shafts and chucks
unmatched gripping pressure and core contact

AIR SHAFTS & CHUCKS

THE FIELD-PROVEN CONCEPT IN CORE LOCKING

Use COR-LOK® air shafts and chucks for positive locking without core damage and virtually maintenance-free operation. These unique air shafts and chucks employ a totally new inflating and gripping principle for greater gripping pressure and improved core contact. The COR-LOK® design utilizes a single, small diameter tube spirally wound around the shaft body. When inflated, the tubing provides even, controlled expansion for the aluminum leaves and full surface engagement with the core I.D. - locking it securely to the shaft. COR-LOK® air shafts are available in 1" to 12" diameters. Special, fractional and metric core sizes available. Call for more specifications.

18503-86 COR-LOK® SHAFT FOR CANTILEVERED MOUNTING

FEATURES INCLUDE:
  • Only 1¼ difference between core & shaft diameters. Thus a 3" core chuck has a 1¾ max. I.D. for shaft insertion.
  • Long, maintenance-free operation since contact with the core I.D. is made with wear-resistant aluminum gripping leaves.
  • Greater gripping pressure, which is achieved through the combination of the spiral-wound tubing and gripping leaves.
  • Minimum down-time since the rubber tubing size is standard on all size chucks, is available from any local source and is mechanically (not vulcanized) affixed to the air valve ... requiring only minutes should replacement be required.
  • Deflated Diameter = .0625" under nominal core size
  • Inflated Diameter = .1875" over nominal core size
UNIQUE BENEFITS INCLUDE:
  • Positive locking over the full core length.
  • Greater gripping pressure.
  • No core damage due to reaming ... less down-time for roll changes.
  • Virtually maintenance-free operation ... aluminum locking leaves resist wear.
  • Minimum down-time ... standardized rubber tubing available from any local source ... easily attached to air valve ... can be replaced in minutes.
  • COR-LOK® shafts and chucks require only 90-120 psi input to fully inflate.

CAC COR-LOK® Air Shafts and Air Chucks are manufactured under U.S. PATENT NUMBERS: 3825167, 3917187, 3937412, 4124173 AND 4944468

COR-LOK® Air shaft with lateral adjustment

Lateral Adjust Air Shaft

COR-LOK® airshafts for cantilevered installations in narrow-web applications are available with the Lateral Adjust (LA) option. This system is designed for use with label presses. The LA option is built into the airshaft. An easily and safely operated hand wheel facilitates side to side +/- 4 inch adjustment while the machine is running and production continues. The system includes an adjustable core stop flange. The airshaft can be inflated with an air gun or through a toggle valve.

MECHANICAL CHUCKS

  • SELF-CENTERING
  • LOAD SENSITIVE - THE GREATER THE LOAD, THE GREATER THE GRIPPING

When making a decision about the core support system best suited for your application, keep in mind the simplicity of design of these chucks which assures RELIABLE OPERATION and ECONOMY.

Unlike the core cones, the chucks are supplied with the same split bushing design used in our COR-LOK® Air Chucks and Shafts, preventing possible damage to the thru shaft.

Ease of installation provides another reason for choosing this solution to core support problems. Simply slip the chuck onto the thru shaft, clamp split bushing to shaft with the set screws provided, load the core and you're ready to run.
