Investment in today's tension controls and newest technologies can pay-off, big time.

Take a look at your unwind station and ask yourself - how do you control tension off that unwind? How do you make adjustments for decreasing roll diameter as you unwind? Does your machine operator manually adjust a brake as the unwind decreases in size? Or worse yet - does he just set a torque output and leave it?

Now, take a look at your rewind and ask yourself the same questions.

Every unwind and more importantly every rewind should have automatic tension controls, especially considering the technologies available today. Your product quality starts at the unwind, doesn't it make sense to ensure you present your process with the highest quality web? Conversely, your rewind may be the final product you supply to your customer, shouldn't that be of the highest quality as well?

Adding automatic tension controls to your unwinds and rewinds will produce very fast return on investment by allowing you to process the highest quality product in the least amount of time. Taper tension control at your rewind will produce rolls free of telescoping, starring and crushed cores.

Remember always equip tension controls on your rewind with taper tension capability.
