As far as I know, bowed rolls are really the only thing available to evenly separate slit widths effectively. Bowed rolls are available in both adjustable and non-adjustable versions. Even though the initial cost of adjustable bowed rolls is higher than there fixed bow counterparts, it is always better to use adjustable bowed rolls to separate slit widths. Adjustable bowed rolls allow you to adjust the amount of bow so you will be able to set the proper amount of slit separation.
Keep in mind, almost all of the spreading action takes place in the entry span (unsupported web distance) to the bowed roll. So, the longer the entry span, the more slit separation you will have.
Always include at least one straight idler roller after the slit, prior to the bowed roll. Placing a bowed roll directly after a slitting head, without an idler separating the bowed roll from the slitting station may cause your material tare instead of allowing the proper cut of the slitting method. This will result in pore slit quality.
