Try replacing your grooved rolls with concave profiled rolls. | |

Grooved rolls performance can be very limited for removing wrinkles. In fact, some webs will conform to the grooves profile and wrinkles and web distortions will result. Concave profiled rolls are sometimes referred to as reverse crowned rolls due to the fact that they have a profile exactly opposite crowned rolls. The rolls diameter is greater towards the edges and less in the center. The larger diameter towards the rolls edges will "walk" the webs edges away from the center (assuming the web is in traction with the reverse crown roll face). This will help to eliminate wrinkles. Try it with one roll and see what your experience tells. If the concave profile works well for you, then often times adding this profile to several rolls in your machine yields the best result. | |
