Pneumatic conveying

When considering adding components or changing duct in a pneumatic conveying system always consider:
  •  Pressure drop will occur for each added component, like added duct lengths for waste chopper.
  •  Air speed will change with each duct size increase or decrease. Air flows faster through smaller diameter duct and slower through larger.
  •  Volume or cubic feet per minute (CFM) will change with every duct size change. Smaller duct is more restrictive and will decrease CFM, larger duct is less restrictive and will promote greater CFM through long duct lengths.
Bottom line, pneumatic conveying systems are engineered to operate at a certain level as a complete system. System changes (even the smallest change) will result in changes to system performance.
