Tips

• Properly designed mechanical core chucks utilize core rotation (not side pressure) to provide toque to the core inside diameter. This eliminates core distortion and damage.
• Core locking is torque sensitive, meaning more torque demand (higher web tension) receives proportionally more core locking force will be applied to the core inside diameter. These types of mechanical chucks will not slip, even under the highest torque requirement (very high web tensions). That said, these chucks are activated and lock with very light web tension, as well. 
• Simplicity of design with no tools required is key. Make installation and use fast and easy.
• Mechanical chucks are used often in shaftless operations. However, they are also available for thru shaft applications. They are lightweight for easy lifting and maneuvering.
